Game Convention Central is a community-run directory dedicated to one simple mission: helping gamers everywhere find the conventions worth travelling for. Since our launch in 2012, we've grown into one of the most comprehensive game-convention listings anywhere — a labour of love cataloguing well over 600 events across six continents, spanning every branch of the tabletop and interactive gaming hobby. If it involves dice, cards, miniatures, boards or controllers, and people gathering to play, we want it on the map.
Our Story
The directory began in 2012 as a passion project by a small group of dedicated hobbyist gamers who were frustrated that there was no single, reliable place to discover gaming conventions. What started as a modest list quickly blossomed as gamers around the world wrote in to share the events they loved. Over the years the directory has been rebuilt and refined, but its heart has never changed: it exists to serve the community, run by gamers, for gamers, with no corporate agenda — just genuine enthusiasm for bringing people together around the games they love.
Our Mission
We believe conventions are the beating heart of the gaming hobby. They're where friendships form, where new games are discovered, where designers meet their players, and where scattered local scenes realise they're part of something much bigger. Our mission is to lower the barrier to those experiences — to make it effortless for anyone, anywhere, to find an event that fits their tastes, their budget and their travel plans. Every listing we add is a small invitation to join the table.
How the Directory Is Organised
To make browsing intuitive, we organise our listings geographically. The United States is divided into ten regional guides, from the Pacific coast to New England, while the rest of the world is grouped into country and continental guides covering Canada, the UK and Ireland, continental Europe, Australia and New Zealand, and the wider world across Asia, Africa and Latin America. We also maintain a dedicated guide to the growing scene of online and virtual conventions. Rather than freeze fragile event dates into a calendar that's outdated the moment it's published, we write each regional page as an evergreen guide to that area's gaming-convention culture — always encouraging readers to confirm current details on an event's official website.
Our Editorial Approach
Everything we publish is guided by a few firm principles. We describe conventions neutrally, as examples of a region's vibrant scene, and we never imply any affiliation with, ownership of, or endorsement by the events we list — they belong to their own organisers and communities. We keep the directory free of clutter and spam, review submissions carefully, and prioritise genuine usefulness over hype. And we depend, gratefully, on the community: the gamers who submit conventions, correct our details and share news from their local scenes are the reason this directory thrives.
